AZURE - Migration

 Azure Migrate Service :

Now our tools are deployed , lets go to the next step which is discovery . 

And to perform this step , I am going to switch over to this environment

got o Azure Migrate Again -- go to servers 

Click on Discover

Since my machines are virtualized with Hyper-V I am going to select that here .

I am going to goahead and download this .VHD file .

So my appliance is ready to be used now. I am going to go on to Hyper-V Manager and import this appliance

I am going to go to Hyper V manager and Import this appliance 

And I am going to Navigate to where my appliance was downloaded 

And import that . I am going to register the Virtual Machine in place .

And connected Via my switch that I am already configured

My migrate appliance is in place now

As the next step is to configure the appliance and start discovery from the web browser

So I am going to start the appliance here

Once it start running - lets connect to it now

Lets just accept this 

Set a Password

So lets configure the appliance now

First step is to accept the license terms 

So lets continue to register with Azure Migrate now.

Here login to the Azure Portal .

So I have signed into the Microsoft Power shell Application on this device and it has now identified the migrate project that I want to work with 

So I will give this a Name Appliance 1 . And I will register this

Make sure the subscription and the resources group are the one that is setup for Azure migrate and the Meta data will be stored in the geography where you select your Azure Migrate on Azure Portal .

So I have successfully registered

So let me go-ahead and give the hyper-V host details now.

This is my Hyper - V username and password that I use to connect to my Hyper-V host . Make sure you give the right credentials here,

These are not the appliance credentials this is your Hyper-V host credentials on-premise 

Save this here and I will add my host now .

So it has discovered two VMs that are running in my environment 

And I am going to go ahead and save and start that discovery . So I can see the discovered machines on my Azure portal 

It is initiating discovery and configuring  the appliance now and the appliance configuration is done.

Lets go back to the portal and see

And I can see my discovered servers here , so I can start accessing my servers by clicking on access

My discovery source is this

I will give an Assessment name to this and I will change my assessment properties as well .

Edit Assessment Properties as well

Save

Lets create a New group for this.

And add the machines click to add the machines you want to Migrate 

Click Assessment 

Assessment is now ready for use . 

I can export this assessment to an excel sheet and also recalculate this for the time that has passed.

Secondly we can go ahead and migrate 

Click Discover 

remember this  portal is now open in this remote desktop

I am going to download the Hyper-V application provider here , I am also going to download the registration Key file .

Set this up now. 

This will let the Key that I just downloaded .

And this will need the key that I just downloaded .

Browse to the downloaded location to select the key

So my server is registered in the AzureSiteRecovery Vault .

The next step is to finalize the registration here .

Let me refresh this page

The tools have been refreshed it shows my discovered servers now.

Let me click on Discover and finalize registration.

So it says one Hyper V host is been connected .

Click on Finalize registration here .

This take 10-15 minutes and I can start replicating right after 

My registration is finalized now and I can goahead and start replicating my servers.

So what I am going to do prior to replication is create a Storage Account

I will do another thing as a per-requisite - create a Virtual Network .

So let me go back

So let me go back and replicating now. 

That I had created earlier 

And there is my VM  that I am going to replicate now.

This is the steps in migration  .

Click on Test Migration .

Step one has been done , under step 2 the clean up is pending .

Now proceed to step 3 lets go ahead and migrate 

Got to resource group

And there is my machine and associated resources .
